Commitment
Accessibility
This site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA — and to the ADA Title II web rule for local governments. Tell us when we fall short.
The standard we hold to
The City of Slidell website targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard named in the City’s website redesign and the technical standard adopted by the U.S. Department of Justice under ADA Title II. Color contrast is checked against the design tokens on every build, headings follow a real outline, every control works by keyboard, forms carry labels and error messages, and images carry alternative text or are marked decorative. The AI assistant and the search dialog are keyboard-operable and announced to screen readers.
Requesting an accommodation
If any content here is not usable for you, contact the Public Affairs Division — which manages the City’s website and social media — through the contact form or City Hall at (985) 646-4300. We will provide the information in another format: large print, plain text, or read aloud over the phone. You do not need to explain why.
Documents
Older PDFs published on the City site may not yet be fully accessible or text-searchable. The redesign includes OCR processing and remediation of existing PDFs; until a document is remediated, ask and we will provide the content in an accessible form.

How we test and what we know about
What we test, and how often
Automated axe-core checks (WCAG 2.1 AA rules) run against every page on every build and block a release on a violation. Lighthouse SEO and performance run alongside. A manual keyboard and screen-reader pass runs before each major content change, and the results are published on the compliance dashboard inside the CMS.
Known limitations
Third-party services the City links to — PayStar (utility payments), the Tyler EnerGov Online Applications portal, GovQA (public records), GovDelivery (alerts), Municode (Code of Ordinances) and Vimeo (council video) — are operated by their vendors. Where an embedded or linked service cannot meet AA, the same task is available by phone or in person at City Hall.
How to report a barrier
Send the page address and what went wrong through the contact form or call (985) 646-4300. We aim to respond within two business days.
